for photographers: i ♥ faces contest ~ 4th place

Two posts ago, I mentioned I entered myself in a contest. The guest judge was Jasmine Star, one of my favorite photographers and one of the special guests at July’s SoCal PhotogShootout (along with Michael and Anna Costa). I won fourth place!  See the post HERE with Jasmine’s comments.

hmweek25_thumbThanks for all the lovely comments and the support.

Regarding the July Shootout, it has been SOLD OUT, but we are having a special BACK to BACK shootout in August. Make sure you are a member of our page to get the details and register. Don’t miss out on this one!

In other news, I no longer own the website: www.hanssietrainor.com. Please do not pass out my old business cards (the pink square ones). It’s a long story.

Of course, I can’t have a blog post be absent of pictures, so here is one from Darcy and Michael’s Virginia wedding. With some Photoshop magic by my friend, Paul Schaefer.

She thought it would be “a good idea,” so she said when he first asked her for her phone number and said he might call her.  Having met earlier at a rehearsal dinner, Michael spent the entire day of his sister’s wedding trying to impress Darcy. They went on their first date that evening.

And they dated long distance as Michael attended the Air Force Academy and Darcy finished school. A few years later, Michael surprised Darcy by flying to visit her where she lived in Virginia and asked for her hand in marriage. “I think that would be a good idea,” was her response.

Despite the rain, it was a beautiful day filled with precious memories. And at the end, after the cake was cut (by a sword!) and devoured, the bouquet was thrown and the garter tossed,  and Darcy was “welcomed” into the Air Force family,  twelve year old Payton (Darcy’s brother) turned to ten year old Daniel (Michael’s brother) and said, “Take care of my sister, ok?”

Michael and Darcy, thanks for letting me be a part of your day and making the most of the rain! We got horses (almost!), and umbrellas and Michael resurrecting his Irish Dance career! I’m excited that you guys are moving out here.

Special Thanks to Leah Crutcher for coordinating a great day!
P.S. Since I had to travel by plane and stay at a hotel for this wedding, do I get to count it as a “destination wedding?” I’m going to. You can start calling me “the destination wedding photographer” now!:)

Why are swords part of the uniform? I don’t know, but it makes for interesting pictures.
