this week’s obsessions vol. III

UPDATED: I took the number of comments –16– and plugged them into a “random number generator,” found on google. And the number it gave me was 10. SO the 10th commenter was Marvin Engstrom! Congrats Marvin! Thanks for sharing your loooong list of obessesions!

Welcome to another installment of “this week’s obsessions”, where I talk about…well, things I’m obsessed with. But this is a super special edition, as I am giving away everything I’m listing this week –which is this month’s FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS giveaway. Read on to find out how to win!

Obsession #1: The movie, Shutter Island

MPW-44370

I’m NOT one to like horror movies. I’m too much of a wimp. I actually am not a big fan of movies at all. I don’t have the attention span to sit through one and I have weird OCD tendencies that make me wonder random things like, “Who sat here before me?” and “How sanitary is this chair, really?” But, my husband loves movies and a few friends invited us out so I was outnumbered. Well, instead of the horror movie, with ax murderers and bloody body counts, Shutter Island makes you think. It’s more of a psychological thriller that leaves you talking about it for weeks, replaying parts of the movie and drawing diagrams (We actually did! Don’t judge!) I think I’m going to go buy the book and see if I can find answers to some of my questions. If you haven’t seen it, you should. If you have, I need people to discuss the movie with!

Obsession #2: Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color in 03 Hot Magenta

I’m always looking for a great hot pink color and this one lasts forever. Put a coat of Xtreme Wear clear over the top and it lasts for over a week with no chipping!

Obsession #3: Ultra Fine Point Sharpies

p99868z

It’s about the only thing I write with these days. It’s still smelly like a big Sharpie and I’ve probably lost a good number of usable brain cells from the smell, but at least my writing looks pretty because they make it in PINK!

Obsession #4: Neosporin On The Go

Neosporin neo to go first aid antiseptic pain relieving spray - 0.26 ozI’m a big wimp. I don’t like pain nor do I like blood. Come on, you know a paper cut, however small, hurts badly. I carry a mini first aid kit in my purse–after all I am a mother…and little thing is perfect for my keychain. It’s handy for the kid’s scrapes and my little ailments as well. And it goes perfectly with pink bandaids:)

Obsession #5: Caramel Apple Pops

ban_192Remember these from high school? They are apple flavored lollipop covered in caramel. Um, what’s not to love about caramel covered anything?! Delicious!

So, onto the giveaway:

In the comment section below (it’s in the small print at the bottom of this post), tell me something you’ve been obsessed with lately. I’ll pick a random commenter to win: 2 movie tickets, and obsession #’s2-4. Contest ends Friday 10:00am and winner announced by Friday evening.

this week’s obsessions vol.II

1. Petite Sour Hearts – About 10 years ago, one of my favorite candies was discontinued. It was only found at certain gas stations, in those value packs of candy. It was chunks of sour red licorice — and it was licorice flavored. (Nowadays, they make BIZARRO sour licorice with strawberry flavored licorice…NOT.THE.SAME.) And I have thought of them wistfully since. Anyway, last year, I had an “impulse buy moment” and ended up purchasing a box of tiny sour hearts from Henry’s Farmer’s Market. Their were 3 types of hearts in the box and the red hearts were EXACTLY what I had been looking for…for the last TEN YEARS! So, then after waiting an entire year, I bought the biggest box in the store (at $7.99 per lb, that’s saying a lot).

2. Badger’s Certified Organic Lip Balm Lavendar and Orange -I’ve made it no secret that I am obsessed with Chapstick/lip gloss/lip balm, etc. In fact, I just bought two new MAC lip glosses yesterday…wait, don’t tell my husband. Sometimes the stuff they put into makeup is a bit scary, so when I am feeling “healthy” I look up some of the beauty products I use and see how safe it is for me and my family. In my search for safe lip balms, I discovered this site: SKIN DEEP It rates thousands of products based on its ingredients. Not all organic products are safe…which is super scary, but these lip balms are not only safe and non toxic, but smells yummy with a great texture. So I bought four of them. You can get them at Drugstore.com and right now, if you buy 3, you get one free!

3. Fox’s TV show, Glee – I’m unequivocally, unashamedly, undeniably and probably a bunch of other UN words — in love with Glee. I don’t know if it reminds me of my oh-so-cool high school days in the school choir or on the Colorguard team but once I watched 3 episodes I was hooked. I just caught up and now I can’t wait till it comes back in April. I absolutely LOVE Jane Lynch, whose portrayal of the mean Cheerleading coach is so hilariously inappropriate and cruel. A close second is the OCD school counselor –hey, she likes cleanliness –can’t fault a girl for that!

4. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion “Sin” – One of my major vices is Sephora. I can spend HOURS in that store looking at the little pots and jars of make-up. Longer, fuller lashes? Yes, please. Big, pouty lips. Sign me up! Look taller, skinnier and more glamorous ALL in this ONE little spray? Awesome. Well, in one of my previous excursions into the land of promised beauty, I discovered –or actually 3 different sales ladies impressed upon me to try this product. I did and it’s FABULOUS! My eyeshadow and eyeliner DOES NOT MOVE and it’s pretty champagne color blends well with my everyday colors. LOVE IT! (They also have it in Nude –pictured below)

5. Another time waster: Formspring. Apparently, you ca ask people questions and they’ll answer. So, I jumped on the bandwagon and it’s kind of fun. Go ahead, ask me whatever you want by clicking HERE.
