So, I heard that this is the last season of Oprah‘s show. I don’t watch it, but I know that each year, she publishes her “Favorite Things” and gives away selected items from her list. So, I decided that it was time to re-vamp my monthly Obsessions post. Borrowing from Ms. Oprah, my monthly post will now be called “Hanssie’s Favorite Things” and I’m gonna give away an item or two from the list as well. (Move over Oprah, Hanssie’s in town). P.S. These are all my own opinions, nobody is paying me or giving me free stuff to write about their product, cause that would be lame.
This month’s list:

1. Too Faced Lashgasm Mascara: I have seriously wimpy eyelashes–microscopic really. So, I am always on the lookout for miracle mascara. I’ve tried every kind known to man, practically. Some of the best mascara, my mom brought back for me from China. It had fibers in it that adhered itself to your lashes and made them long and pretty, BUT I was totally allergic to the fibers. I’d suffer through for the sake of beauty (yes, I am THAT vain). Then I tried to find a “green” product because putting a chemically laden product on my eyes really freaked me out, but the products I tried did not work for me. Finally vanity won over and I trekked over to Sephora (a very dangerous store for me and my credit card) and proceeded to ask every salesperson their opinion for my wimpy lashes. Twenty different suggestions later, I spied a tube of Lash Injection by Too Faced. I liked the description (I’m a sucker for good marketing) — they had me at “Hollywood Plastic Surgeon” and “Lip Injections” and “Fake Lashes”, haha. 3 months later, I went back to get a new tube and right next to it, I see a tube of Lashgasm by the same company. Herein lay my dilemma. So I snagged a salesperson and made her explain to me what the difference was. Lashgasm has a funny, little wand that grabbed and separated each lash and extended them. I tried to ignore the look of betrayal from the Lash Injection mascara in my hand and proceeded to the register with the Lashgasm. And OMG, how I love this mascara. My wimpy lashes don’t look quite so wimpy. In the interest of experimentation, I swiped a few coats of Lash Injection over the Lashgasm and the combo was awesome. Go try for yourself. Retails for $21.

2. Pinkberry Frozen Yogurt: How I have overlooked putting my Pinkberry obsession on my list has been an OBVIOUS oversight. (Or have I already? I can’t keep track of all my obsessions anymore, haha). I seriously CRAVE this stuff, so much so that I make the hubby drive out 3x a week (It’s a 20 minute drive each way) to get me some. My absolute favorite flavor is Coconut with strawberries and mochi, but not all store carry it. So my second choice is Chocolate and Original swirl (it’s not always in the same machine though, but side by side is okay) with mangos and mochi. Retail value for a small w/toppings $4.95

3.CBS’s Hawaii Five-0 Reboot: This show made it on a previous obsession list, but it warrants another shout-out as since then I’ve become even MORE obsessed with the show. If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll notice that I’ve been interacting quite a bit with other fans, some of the crew and writers from Fall’s #1 new drama. There are too many things that I love about it. First off, it’s in one of my favorite places in the world – Oahu. I’ve only been once and I’d love to go back –so I need a Destination Wedding in Hawaii, come on, brides, make it happen, LOL. Next, it’s action packed story lines keep me entertained and never bored. And third, um, hello hottie actors. I know, I’m so shallow, but I’m an artist and I appreciate works of art
It’s up for a People’s Choice Award for Best New TV Drama. Vote for it. You should watch, Monday Nights on CBS 10/9c.

4. Unmarketing by Scott Stratten: Regular blog readers will know that I love to read fiction. But every once in a while, I will torture myself with a business book because that’s what a good business owner should do. I have shelves of books that are not only dry, but repeat themselves over and over again, regurgitating the same information, from chapter to chapter, book to book. When I someone tweet about this book, I knew I had to pick it up. I loved the title and I loved what I read about it. Fast paced and witty, I felt like Scott was speaking my language (sarcasm and wit) and the short chapters were not only relevant to TODAY but quick to read and digest. I’m only halfway through, but it’s one of my favorite biz books to date. Retails for $24.95

5. Trader Joe’s Toscano Cheese with Cinnamon: I’ve tried to take a picture of this cheese, but every time I get it home it’s gone before I can get my camera out (I’m the only that eats cheese in my house…) I love cheese, which is why I am not a vegan and this cheese is like dessert. It’s creamy and has a hint of cinnamon in it. Yum. My best friend was dubious of the two flavors, but I brought a chunk over and in an hour we ate the whole thing. It’s dangerously good. Retails for about $5.00.
Onto the giveaway part.
I’m gonna let you choose. (Minus the Hawaii Five 0 –haha, can’t really give that to you). Comment in the section below with the title your favorite book, along with which item you would want to win (Trader Joe’s and Pinkberry will be in the form of gift cards). I’ll pick a winner randomly on Wednesday 12/8 and announce it on this blog by 9:00am.
