The People: Barnes Family 2011

Every winter, I shake my head in disbelief and wonder where the heck the previous year went. The days just seem to speed by and each year the babies are no longer babies and the kiddos just keep getting taller. I love to see it, but I also get a little sad each year to see them all growing up so quickly.

This is the third year I have photographed the Barnes family and they seem to just get cuter and cuter. They all still say “Cheese” in harmony and still look like they all stepped out of a Baby Gap ad. It’s comforting to know that some things don’t change:)

It is now a tradition. Can you tell which one is Mr. Independent?

The Engagements: Vivian & David

“Private. Intimate. And romantic as heck.”

Those are the words she used to describe her engagement story.

They met through mutual friends a few times and started expressing interest in each other, but not to each other. Eventually, they started dating and though they each started to realize that they had found the one person they wanted to spend the rest of their lives with, they both fought it. But the heart knows what the heart wants and they fell hard for each other…

She always said she’d be happy with a ring made out of tin foil. So, he made her a ring out of tin foil, sang her to her (even though he doesn’t sing), told her he loved her, got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Private. Intimate. And romantic as heck.

I’ve known David since I was 6 years old and I am so honored to document the day he marries the love of his life! Vivian, I can’t wait to see you walk across that bridge at The Ambassador Mansion and Gardens. It’s gonna be fabulous!
