Labels. No matter how much we want to shy away from them, it’s a way of life. Collectively, they help us define who we are and separately, they each contain a snippet of a facet of our lives and personalities.

When I first started my photography business, my logo was hanssie trainor: photography. Even back then I knew I could not be contained under one label, hence the colon. (The colon is used before a list or an explanation that is preceded by a clause that can stand by itself) and I knew that photography was just one thing that defined who I was. And now after 3+ years in the business, I’ve evolved and come full circle, back to using the colon to help define who I am – a multi faceted, ever changing person, that wears many hats and has many life experiences.

This blog has always been about my life but with a focus on my photography, but now, there will be a shift to focus more on my journey in the "IN BETWEEN" from my former life as a wife and mother to life as a single gal and single mom living life passionately under my own terms with photography thrown in as well. I'm just a girl trying to figure things out and deal with baggage and confusion in the dating world. I'm putting it all out there --the good, the bad and the ugly. I hope you’ll join me for the ride.

I'm kissing a lot of frogs..and blogging about it.

(P.S. Yes, I am still commissioning for fashion/editorial work and for weddings/ portraits)

Laundry and Other Exciting Life Occurances

Ugh. Just realized it’s been 18 days since my last post. Where does the time go?

This past weekend was the first weekend that I’ve been home (and not house hunting or moving) since the weekend before Thanksgiving. Traveling from NorCal to Scottsdale and then NoCal and then Scottsdale and then Scottsdale again, I really would not like to pull out my suitcase again for a while. (Unfortunately, I only have a 10 day reprieve before NorCal again).

Besides working, I did loads and loads of laundry, unpacked some more and cleaned my bathroom. It was blissful. Nightly walks to the beach (1 block away now!), home cooked meals, playing with the dog, wine –I feel like I’m playing house.

Looking back to the first year after my divorce, I was gone every weekend from Thursday to Sunday and I supposed when you’re running away from stuff, that’s all fine and dandy, but when you’re not, it’s just tiring.

But I do miss Vegas.

Perhaps, I have no more fun adventures to blog about anymore and therefore, you have nothing to read. I mean, who wants to read about a girl that does laundry all weekend?

I still have some stories in me. Don’t you worry. And when the time is right, I shall reveal them. But for now, you’ll have to snooze over my boring laundry stories…

To prove that I still go out and have fun, here are me and some friends at Imaging USA. I get to call this work:)

Welcome 2014!

I said hello to 2013 with a kiss.

2013 was like any other year,  a year of new adventures, huge challenges, a different focus and an immense amount of growth. 2013 brought with it a new 90lb member into the family, and a move into a smaller space. One of the biggest changes though was the new career.

Steve Jobs used to look in the mirror each morning and ask himself, Do I like what I’m doing? Am I happy? And if the answer was no too many days in a row, he did something differently. It took me 7 years to finally do it.

1. The career – after 16 years, I finally left education. And here I am – I write, I manage and I lead. I work all the time, but that’s okay because I enjoy it. I truly am excited to wake up each day and work. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows and the learning curve is steep, but it’s new, exciting and I’m finally passionate about my work again.

2. The dog – Goliath is the coolest dog, with crazy abandonment issues. He is perfect until he is left alone. Then he becomes what can only be described as a sobbing, temper tantrum throwing, nervous three year old. He chewed up my seat belts. Both of them. Out of spite. TWICE.

3. The house – it’s actually an apartment, but it’s a new space. And after I move everything in, it’ll be great. Right now, I hate it. I’m ready to throw everything away and start new.

From the second 2013 began, I expected nothing of what it would hold. And when the clock struck midnight, signifying the end to another 12 months, I got another kiss.

Starting and ending a year with kisses is never a bad thing;)

I also have no idea what 2014 will hold. It already has thrown me for a loop and it’s barely into the second day! But for the first time in a long time, I can honestly say that I am excited and really, really mean it.

Happy New Year my friends. I shall see you soon (as soon as I find some balance again in my life and squeeze in a regular blogging schedule.

This was the first year in the last 3 that I didn’t make it to Vegas. Not ringing in the New Year on the Strip with hundreds of thousands of other people was sad, but we made the most of it by driving around Scottsdale in a party bus with 10 friends.

It was actually a bus sized bus. Very fun.
