the places: astor classic events center, anaheim (vendor shoot)

Note: So earlier last week, I tweeted, “Nap or Blog? Decisions, decisions.” Unanimously, people commented that I should nap, and so I did and then proceeded to take the whole week off from blogging. It was a nice break. Thanks for indulging me :)

One of the hottest trends in weddings these days is vintage. It’s the new “modern.” From birdcage veils to art deco to lace gloves, brides are looking back to a bygone era for inspiration. If you love the vintage look, your venue will be an important element in pulling off the vintage feel of a wedding day.

A few months ago, I was a part of a vendor shoot at the Astor Classics Museum in Anaheim. I can’t show photos from that shoot yet, but a few weeks after that, I was back in the vintage vibe of Astor to shoot a mock ceremony. What says vintage more than antique cars?!

Our models were the best! Five minutes after meeting, we told them they had to act like they were in love. I think they did a good job, however awkward it was!

the places: dana point yacht club ~ orange county wedding venue

When I was a little girl, I watched a sitcom called, “The Love Boat.” Something about romance , water and hanging out on a cruise ship with the Captain, his daughter, and the rest of the crew was appealing to an 8 year old, I guess. Alas, I spent my elementary school years dreaming of one day being whisked off on a cruise ship and falling in love.

Well, since I didn’t fall in love on the one and only cruise I’ve experienced – I may have been too busy EATING to pay attention to the boys (I was also only 16 years old), my fanciful, grade school yearnings of finding love on the Pacific Princess were dashed.

So, last week, as I stepped foot onto The Pilgrim, a schooner docked in the Dana Point Harbor, all the 8 year old visions of romantic bliss permeated my senses and I could envision my perfect white wedding aboard this ship while my family friends, the Captain, his daughter, and the cruise director, Julie McCoy looked on.

BRIDES: If you are looking for a fabulous, unique wedding venue, you have to check out Dana Point Yacht Club. And oh so conveniently, they are hosting a bridal event this February 28th. Lots of delicious food and vendors will be on hand to help you design your dream wedding –although I don’t think the cast of the Love Boat will be here. More info and tickets HERE.
