As my time off officially comes to an end and I blow the dust off my file folders, fire up my Microsoft Word (yes, people, I’m still on a PC) and dig out my white out and blue pens, I leave you with one last “fling.”
I have a paltry, small, microscopic, itty, bitty, inconsequential obsession with fashion. At one time in the distant past, I subscribed to 25 fashion magazines. I’ve destroyed two closets, as in shelves crashing down under the weight of shoes, shirts, dresses, etc. I pore over clothing ads as a fourth grader might scrutinize pictures in an I Spy book.
It wasn’t until recently that I realize what I love about fashion ads especially is that they tell a story through a single picture. So, when a group of us were brainstorming about setting up a concept shoot, we gravitated toward a drama filled concept us wedding photographers don’t ever get to shoot–a break up. It was a challenge for all of us, but I had the advantage of all those years of “research” with all those Vogue, W, Elle and Glamour magazines.
