Join us for an entertaining and educational evening with special guest Mikkel Aaland. Aaland will share lessons from his 35-year professional career as well as highlight his latest photographic project, “The River in Our Backyard”. He’ll also demonstrate his personal workflow using the latest version of Adobe Lightroom, version 4, and Photoshop. “One of the biggest challenges facing photographers today,” explains Aaland, “besides ever lowering revenue streams, is managing an extensive image collection and creating an efficient workflow that takes you from camera to computer to a final destination, be it a print, a book, or the web.”
But workflow isn’t everything, “Quality very much counts,” says Aaland. “And that means knowing how to pull the levers and push the buttons that squeeze out the very best from an image file.” Workflow and quality. Instruction with inspiration. We are in for a great evening!
About Mikkel Aaland
Mikkel Aaland is an award winning photographer, popular workshop leader and author of over fifteen books and numerous training videos. He has been at the forefront of digital photo technology since its beginnings.
His documentary photography has been published widely and exhibited in major galleries across the world, including Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris and the former Lenin Museum in Prague. Aaland is the creator and director of the “Adobe Lightroom Adventure”, which was held in Iceland in 2006 and Tasmania in 2008. Most recently Aaland recorded a 10-hour Adobe Press title: “Learn Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 “, and a 3-hour Learn by Video title, “Image Editing with Camera Raw in Adobe Photoshop CS5″ for Peachpit Press. He has also recorded two titles for Video2Brain, “Creating eBooks for Photographers”, and “Creating Dynamic Slideshows with FotoMagico and Photoshop”. Lin and Jirsa Photography, based in Orange County, is a studio that shoots over 100 weddings a year. They will be discussing overall brand image and how they tie into the design and flow of a photographers web presence. They will then discuss different marketing techniques including classic advertising, SEO, social media, referrals, etc. The overall emphasis is going to be on establishing a strong online presence for your photography business.
