Recently, Jeff founded Startup-Strategy (http://start…up-strategy.com/), a company dedicated to helping every photographer business learn to succeed using goal-based strategies. At the next SMUG, Jeff will show us some of the ways we can use these powerful concepts to gain some clarity about how to turbo-charge our businesses. Bottom line: This is a business-centric presentation, so you can leave your cameras at home. And, come prepared to have your tree shaken, because Jeff’s is a pretty straight-shooter and won’t pull any punches if it’ll help you get clear on how to better succeed. As Jeff says, “Clarity is the new black.”

A SMUG is a place where you can learn, teach and meet up with other photographers who share your passion. It’s also how we can tell you what’s happening in our world and discover what’s happening in yours. SMUGs are a great way to connect with other photographers and add a few weapons to your creative arsenal.

For Japan, With Love

The world watched in horror last week as devastation upon devastation bombarded the nation of Japan – images of a cities completely destroyed by the fiery hand of nature, news reports of imminent nuclear meltdowns, stories of heartbreak, of heroism, of the courage of the Japanese people.

I immediately called my mom to see if she knew the status of extended family members there. I contacted some of my friends to make sure they were out of harms way. Helpless to do anything but pray for people of Japan. How I wish I could hop on a plane, fly over the Pacific and help in any way I can. How I wish I had the means to help more financially. How I wish I could alleviate someone’s pain and suffering.

The gals from Utterly Engaged and Lydia from Ever Ours have made it easy. They started “For Japan With Love” a fundraiser and day of remembrance for the victims and there are two ways you can help:

For Japan With Love has a direct link on the website to the fundraising page for ShelterBox.
ShelterBox was one of THE first organizations asked by Japan to help and were on hand on the Saturday after the quake.  Each large, green ShelterBox is tailored to a disaster but typically contains a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack and other vital items.
Please check it out and whatever you can contribute will be so appreciated.

Bloggers Day of Silence:
Anyone that has a blog can help out with this. The aim is just raise awareness and respect and acknowledge the devastation going on in Japan.
The guidelines are simple.
1.  This coming Friday, March 18th, no posts at all on your blog.
2.  Please post a blog post about what you will be doing this Friday whenever possible in hopes to spread the word and whoever else would like to join in.
3. Tweet and Re-Tweet the link to http://www.forjapanwithlove.com
4. Encourage your readers to contribute to donate shelter to Japan.
Whatever anyone can contribute will be appreciated.

Every little bit helps.

This blog will be silent tomorrow, Friday 3/18/11, to remember those that are suffering in Japan.

I Corinthians 4:8 “We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed…”

Psalm 9:9-10 “The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.”
