We bonded over Hawaii Five-0, TRX and by generally being seriously bad ass chicks. Separated by a continent and an ocean, we still have yet to meet in person, but I know that I will always have a lifelong friend in the UK no matter what. I “met” Jools because she is the moderator and queen of The Five-0′s — a twitter feed/blog dedicated to fans of the new TV Show, Hawaii Five 0 and I may or may not have a slight obsession with Alex O’Loughlin (Don’t judge. It’s the accent).
Last year, Jools contacted me about shooting an event in Dallas for soap opera actor, Daniel Goddard. The trip started memorably (see “The One With The Strong Jawline” post) and as I made my way through the busy shuffle of the Dallas-Fort Worth airport, I was excited to start the new year with an adventure.
As the taxi pulled up to a cute little boutique hotel, Hotel Zaza, I took in the movies playing on the outside wall and lobby, the bowls of candy everywhere and the antique bed/lounger in the middle of the lobby, and immediately fell in love with the place. I met up with Crystal, the administrator of one of Daniel’s fan clubs, the Goddard Family of Fans and we ended up strolling the exciting (insert sarcasm here) streets of downtown Dallas and talking well into the night.
The next day I literally had 10 minutes with Daniel for a mini photo shoot in the dimly lit hotel lobby. “Hi, I’m Hanssie. I’m have ten minutes to shoot you and make some awesome photos. Don’t be scared. You’re an actor, pretend that you’re totally comfortable with me and of course make sure to look pretty.” I did and he did.
A few months ago, the University of Tampa – Tampa Review, a literary publication that celebrates art in both literature and visual arts, contacted me to use one of the images of Daniel for their book. A few weeks ago, I received copies of the hardcover book. There’s nothing like the feeling of seeing your name in print…
…which is why I am announcing here first that I am starting the process of writing a novel. I’m not gonna lie. The task is daunting and scares the crap out of me. *This* should be interesting…may the adventures abound, be it in real life or the fictional worldHappy Tuesday! XOXO, H
