Here are the things I’ve been obsessing over lately. Feel free to obsess over them too!
1. Pinterest: A few months ago, one of my photo friends posted about Pinterest on her blog. Pinterest is a virtual pin board — “a place where you can create collections of things you love and “follow” collections created by people with great taste.” I really didn’t have much time to explore it then, so I forgot about it. Then one day, I was sitting there, fiddling with my phone and I was bored. You know, the — go searching for new apps because you are stuck somewhere with nothing to do and just thankful you have a smart phone to keep you entertained –kind of bored. And I rediscovered Pinterest. It’s actually a website and you can pin all sorts of stuff you see from the Internet, from your friend’s boards, from random stranger’s boards…Basically, it’s eye candy of all kinds. You get to pin pictures of stuff you like…and I like a lot of stuff. I’m obsessed. You should be too. Lemme know if you want an invite. (Retails for: FREE)

2. Instagr.am: I guess I am just in a sharing type mood and obsessed with iPhone apps, obviously. Instagram is just a fun way to take photos of something, apply a filter on it and then share with the world –Facebook, Twitter, your friends, etc. Here are a few I took from my phone. (Retails for: FREE)

3. V-neck shirts — I’ve been in a casual mood lately. Ripped jeans and t-shirts with a few clunky bracelets and flip flops, straight hair and some lip gloss. My summer attire. Old Navy has some nice basic V-neck shirts (Retails for $8.50 each). I found this one that I love from J.Crew with a super cute lacy back, but it was from last summer, so good luck finding it!

4. Sketchers Shape-ups: The shoes come with an instructional DVD, an instructional booklet and charts. Pretty hardcore. But do they work? I got a pair for Mother’s Day this year and followed the instructions for the first day. You are only supposed to wear them for up to 20 minutes a day for the first few weeks. Now, normally, I am a rule follower, but in this case, I figured, “well, I’m in shape, I’ll just break these puppies in for an all day field trip–a walking tour of JPL.” NOT.THE.BRIGHTEST.IDEA.EVER. Especially since I went to the gym the day before, pulling a two hour Zumba and BootCamp workout. My calves were ON.FIYAH. For days. Seriously.
Now, I wear them to Zumba and to my other workouts maybe once a week and I totally feel it in my legs afterward. My quads hurt. My calves hurt. My gluts hurt. And they all hurt more than after the usual workout since these shoes force you to balance, therefore you are working core muscles too. (Retails for about $70-80)

5. Chia Seed: Ch-ch-ch-chia…Remember, chia pets? The magical growing head or dog, or whatever from years and years ago. Well, who knew the seeds not only made a great novelty gift, but it promotes good health too? It was used by the ancient Aztecs as a high energy endurance food. It slows the break downs of carbs into sugars, it has the ability to absorb 12x it’s weight in water, making it a good tool for hydration, and it does a bunch of other stuff that I lost interest in after reading the first few paragraphs…(so, google it and read up on it if you are interested!)
My friend introduced me to it first when I saw little floaties in her protein shake. She describes it as “Baby Boba.” (If you don’t know what “boba” is, it is a chewy, tapioca-like ball that is in Taiwanese drinks, teas and smoothies.) I love it! Anyway, you soak it in water for 10 minutes and it reaches a cool gel like consistency. You can add it to your recipes I like to put a tablespoon in my protein shake or a bottle of Honest Tea.
P
(I’m adding a 6th favorite thing today, since apparently I’ve been obsessed with a lot of stuff lately!)
6. The Tudor Dynasty – I’ve recently watched the entire Showtime Series of “The Tudors:” a depiction of the reign of King Henry VIII and his 6 wives. Which led me to be all intrigued with the time period (the jewels, the gowns, the customs!) and all the surrounding history back in the 16th century. I watched more beheadings, hangings, drawing and quarterings, tortures, drama and intrigue to last me a while. I can probably answer lots of Jeopardy questions and am currently reading the series by Phillipa Gregory starting with “The Other Boleyn Girl.”

Have a fabulous Monday and happy obsessing!
