the people: family x18

I tried not to look overwhelmed, but I was.

I tried to smile and pretend that shooting a family  of 18 people is exactly what I do every single day.

I tried not to look scared, but inside I was terrified.

You don’t see many family shoots on this blog anymore for one reason – I’m not that great at family portraits. In fact, my new brand (yep, it’s coming) is saturated with weddings, because I LOVE weddings. I KNOW weddings. Crying children, I’m not quite so sure. Children scare me – I’m not quite sure what to do with them. It’s true…don’t judge me.

Even a family as fabulously gorgeous as this one. It was still 18 of them against 2 (Thanks Joe for assisting). Luckily, pretty people are easy to shoot…I just lined them up and pretended I was doing family formals at a wedding.;)

To get the baby to smile, someone had to sing “Boom Boom Pow” by the Black Eyed Peas behind my shoulder the entire time. I wish I had switched my MarkII to video…

I’d say that you did a great job Hanssie! This family is going to be so thankful for these images.

[...] Sarah and Mark. They were teeny tiny when I photographed their entire family last fall (Click HERE to see that post) and it was fun to see how big they had [...]
